-the unit of government was compared of the so called barangay, named after the word Balangay, means boat.
- every barangay was ruled by a Datu. in some places in the phil. they have the raja, sultan or hadji.
-the people in the barangay were classified into four:
the nobility
freeman
surfs or slaves
